Bobby Darren

          Biography                                

Bobby Darren was born into a musical family of twelve on September 9, 1954 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. His parents, Ike and Marge played guitar and mandolin and sang back in the 20s thru the 50s. A   brother, Danny, is also well known in the spotlight  

He taught himself to play guitar at age 5 and he started singing at age 7. When Darren was 11, he formed a duo with his nephew, Jeffrey and by the age of 14, he fronted his own band, Bobby Darren and the Drifters.  During these early years, he performed for such events as the Rawhide Talent Show and the March of Dimes Show.  He continues to contribute his time and talents to charitable organizations.

Darren’s vocal talents are superb. His love for classic country, gospel and bluegrass shines through on the sentimental ballads as well as the top-tapping honky tonk tunes. He cites his musical influences as Hank Williams Sr and George Jones.

A favorite of fans is his rendition of the Grand Ole Opry - impersonating Whisperin’ Bill, Ernest Tubb, Hank Snow and the list continues.

He is an outstanding musician – a leftie, known as the “guy who plays guitar upside down and backwards.” He is also fluent on the dobro, bass, fiddle and mandolin. 

Darren has shared the stage with Bill Phillips, Little Jimmy Dickens, Moe Bandy, George Jones, Sonny James and Jerry Reed among others.

A recording career began in Nashville in 1978 and continues today.  Other accolades along the way include:

  • Showcase at the Stage Door Lounge, Opryland Hotel, Nashville, TN
  • Guest performance on “Live at Libby’s”, Daysville, KY
  • Guest performance at the Starborn Jamboree – Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville, TN
  • Recording under the production of Mike Shockley, with Chet Atkins attending the session
  • Featured artist and tv personality on Midwest Country Theatre – Sandstone, MN

Darren has two sons, Bobby (who also performs classic country as well as Christian favorites) and Danny and a daughter, Carrie. He has eight grandchildren.

He enjoys fishing and spending time with his pets. Darren loves to cook, especially Mexican food. His favorite color is black.

Sheila Marie

Biography                         

 

Sheila Marie was born on October 31, 1966, the youngest of seven children. Influenced at an early age by her family's love of music, she started singing. Her first music adventure was at the age of  4, singing "Ashes of Love".  At age 9, she recorded her first single, "How Far Is Heaven" with her mother,(known as Lisa Lee). Sheila sang frequently with her Uncle's band, Danny Darren and the Drifting Cowboys.

Throughout school, Sheila remained active in chorus and musical activities, college bound for a career in journalism. Three months into college, bitten by the music bug, she joined another Uncle's band, "The Bobby Darren Country Show", with whom she's been for the past 31 years. Featured as soloist, duet partner, and back-up, Sheila's talents range from traditional country and bluegrass to today's contemporary, with a love for songs featuring harmony.

In 1989, she was awarded "First Runner Up" in the GMC Country Showdown. January 1994, Sheila  recorded a song she penned "Hanging My Heart on the Line" as well as a duet with Bobby Solberg entitled "Send a Message to My Heart".

Sheila has shared the stage with Faron Young, Merle Haggard and Rhonda Vincent.

 Musical influences are Liz Anderson, Loretta, Reba, Merle Haggard and Bill Monroe to name a few, but the most respected was, and still is, her lovely Grandmother Margaret Solberg and her husband Isaac who performed as the "Vagabonds" playing guitar and mandolin along with their great harmony back in the 20s, 30s and 40s.

 In her spare time she enjoys biking, walking, reading and going to movies.

The Bobby Darren and Sheila Marie Country Music Show can be seen regularly on Midwest Country Theatre on RFD TV.

Eric is a gifted musician and singer who hails from Louisiana. He loves the original country sound and harmony. Eric's been with our show well over 8 years and is a fan favorite.

Steve Behm - drummer

Steve comes from a musical family. He started playing drums at a young age and has been with our show over 28 years. His talent speaks for itself. When he drums, it sounds like the drummer on the original recording of the song we are performing.

John Lawler - bass

"Oh they call him the Fireman-that's his name... John's our bass player who "rocks" it on stage. His positive demeanor makes him an ideal right-hand man. John's been connect with our show over 30 years.

Bobby Solberg - Bobby Darren's oldest son

Who's undisputedly an excellent songwriter, singer and musician. Proficient on the guitar as well as several other instruments, he also has his own show. Check him out at "bobbysolberg.com"
